"Space station" is where the similarity ends
Babylon 5 was intergalactic UN where they made up for the discovery of a wandering ship by having all the characters and political maneuvering come to them. DS9 was a boring mining outpost in the middle of nowhere and continued to feel like it since trade hubs just aren't that exciting. The space battles in B5 felt more like a climax to all the plot elements as opposed to DS9's desperately trying to keep the audience awake. B5 had interesting personal conflicts with an ambassador lamenting his race's bygone imperialist days and his counterpart's "never again" hubris leading to a reversal of fortunes where they discover the woman horror of getting exactly what they want. DS9 had sub-Kevin Costner levels of baseball worship and the dual Westley team of Nog & Jake having wacky Marvin & Wendy hijinxs together. Plus DS9 brought in the ultimate bane of any good sci-fi: spirituality
