Re: Okay, now I get what you are saying.

The reason he wants to get back to the ship is so that Christopher can heal him. So that Christopher can heal him. So that CHRISTOPHER can heal him. So, what's Wikus do next? He cold-cocks Christopher and steals a craft that he doesn't know how to fly and crashes it immediately. Okay, he was shot down by a rocket but even if he'd made it to the mothership what was the plan? To sit on his fucking thumbs because he went out of his way to leave behind the only guy that could save him? Is the capable Wikus that planned an executed a successful raid on MNU headquarters also the retarded Wikus that purposefully wrecks the most important part of the plan for no reason?
If you were to ask Wikus at that point, I think he'd say that Christopher is the one who wrecked the plan by reneging on the medical fix promise. I put this part of the movie in the same category of dumb desperation as chopping off his alien thumb. There is no second part of the plan, but he can't do nothing. Even the raid on his own MNU office had no exit plan, Christopher had to save the day.
If they hadn't already done such a good job of making me sympathize with Wikus then I wouldn't get angry when he pulls this out-of-character shit.
Where I actually agree with our high GI Joe friend is that I didn't think Wikus was that sympathetic at any time, which seems like it paid off for me for me, ultimately. I don't think he's supposed to be that sympathetic until he finally finally finally turns around to cover Christopher's escape.
