Re: what if tom chick and icycalm had a baby and named it bink?

all I want to say is that there are things way worse than just hurting people a lot. Despite what QT3 thinks, there are worse things that can happen to people than being beaten to death.
Worse or WAY worse? How are you telling bad from worse here? Is it still bad to hurt people a lot? If something is worse than another thing, and that second thing was done to someone, do you just shake your head and say, well here's this thing that's worse (WAY worse even), you should be happy? Please answer in a way that somehow demonstrates that you are NOT a terrible person. Also, while I haven't seen the movie, it does sound fairly sadistic to me. You know, there's no law of nature that says that people have to kill each other. Even if they have a "really good reason".
Laudable, I don't know what to tell you except that this is a war movie and people die in wars. There are lots of ways to die as a result of war and most of them are both more agonizing and less dignified than getting beaten to death with a baseball bat. Here are three to get you started: * Dysentry * Bleeding to death after leg shot off * Suffering from PTSS and unknown chemical poisoning for several years then committing suicide Where you and bink are all HOW AWFUL THOSE POOR HYOOOOAMANS, I am over here thinking about three thousand years of human warfare. For 2950 of those years, it was considered the best possible end that man could have to die a clean death in battle without being taken prisoner and without betraying your tribe. And I personally think that's a pretty good way to go, to be honest.
I know, how about you be condescending and sarcastic and pretend that the Nazis weren't people. They weren't humans, so it's all good. That kind of thinking WASN'T behind the Jews-in-ovens plan, and ISN'T the root of warfare generally. A movie like Inglorious Basterds was the impetus for bink to remember our shared humanity. Maybe you also are aware of this? Also, you may have heard that we have rules for warfare now. They aren't stupid, but I guess you won't believe that. I love your Klingon revisionist history though. Good stuff. Do you personally own a Bat'Leth or whatever?
I guess part of my problem is that I'm not being flip or condescending here. I have no problem thinking of the Nazis as human and also as humans that should get killed, beaten, or scarred. I don't think the one thing cancels out the other. The two are usually played as opposites but it's not actually the case. It kind of seems like bink - who said all this stuff in an offensively stupid way - and you have a deal where you honestly believe that human lives must be consciously respected and preserved at all times. Whereas I think that ignorance and peer pressure don't excuse being wrong. I don't think the ignorance of the average Nazi soldier excuses his putting on a uniform and fighting on the Nazi side of WWII, nor does it mean that an Allied soldier should ever feel bad for killing a Nazi. This is for AT LEAST two reasons. 1. The Axis Powers opposed the Allied Powers, so when the two sides went to war, all the soldiers involved knew they were going to a place where fighting and killing would happen. There was no way to stay ignorant of that. 2. Totally aside from the fucking CONCENTRATION CAMPS, the Nazis, like the Japanese, fought a war of aggression against neighbor states. Their military victories were communicated across the entire country, and nobody could possibly avoid the truth that they were soldiers on the aggressor's side of a major war. Maybe you need me to say that war is awful and always wrong: I'll go 90% of the way with you on that! I agree that it would have been awesome if WWII had never happened as long as it means that the Holocaust also never happened. It would be great if nations never fought at all. But since nations do fight and wars do happen, it does you no credit to have a moral code that talks about the humanity of soldiers of aggressor nation states. It is basically like saying "I love peace <i>no matter how it has to happen.</i>" And all I've been saying for this entire thread is that when I'm given a choice between justice (beating the shit out of Nazis) and peace (leaving those poor gardening Nazis alone), I pick justice. I mean, the Nazis weren't like a terrorist cell flying a plane into a financial center. They actually took over countries and killed millions of people. The only ways to deal with that shit at all are: complete surrender, or fighting back. To put it another way: nobody's talked about the French terrorist cinema lady. Is it because she was hurt enough to justify her revenge?
