Re: FWIW I feel much the same way about DDR

8 different people have shown up to tell you that schmups suck. I think it might be more that there's just so friggin much tension for so little reward and most people don't want to be that uptight recreationally, whereas a mellow and relaxed lady like yourself has less of a problem with it. There is no solution to this problem. Sorry~ ^_^
In Devil May Cry, messing up maybe sets you back anywhere up to 20-30 seconds in your combo building. In addition to being ugly and boring, Blue Wish Resurrection and other pure score games are all about starting over your 5-10 minutes of progress whenever you make the slightest mistake. There's a good reason those kind of games died out and only the insane Twin Galaxies people still care about them. Modern game advances realize this and try to make the journey itself enjoyable instead of just serving as Walter Day bragging rights.
You have this thing going on recently where I secretly suspect that either 1) you don't know how brittle and acerbic you're coming off or 2) you are really and factually this inflexible. I'll be really generous and throw in 3) you're fucking heartbroken about the way I banged your wife and you can't come to terms with it like a gentleman. I mean - it costs you nothing if MM loves schmups and wants to introduce other people to them. It neither picks your pocket nor breaks your leg. So why the hate hard-on?
I would rather have a one-sided debate against the whole of Caltrops about video games than slog through another 3-page "Cables quit posting" "We win! ^_^" "No you do not win!" "We win! ^_^" "AAAARGH NO YOU DON'T, RETARDS!!!" "We win! ^_^" "ARGAFLARGHBRL! You're killing Caltrops" etc. Here's a little tidbit about Fabio's gaming tastes: While playing Thief 2, he discovered that the guards' swordfighting AI really wasn't that great. Whereupon he abandoned all pretense of stealth and ran through the levels slaughtering everything in his path and declared the game boring. If you find yourself nodding and saying, "Yes, that is what I would have done," then you probably won't like shmups and should immerse yourself in the world of competitive multiplayer strategy games. If, instead, you think, "What is he, stupid? That's not the point!" then you see where I was coming from when writing that draft. Secretly, Fabio and I both want the same thing. He wants depth and balance in his strategy games, I want depth and balance in my action games, and our common ground is brawler games.
