Re: I'm not really sure that the new planet-scan activity is an improvement

You can get stupidly lucky or you can spend 5-10 minutes scanning a "rich" planet and finding nothing. The cursor drags so goddamn slowly over the map. The cap on probes forcing you to fly back to a fuel depot (however seamless the system-to-system transitions may be now) is fucking ridiculous. I hope there's another mining upgrade that shows me where to scan for at some point in the game, because at this rate I honestly would rather be taking roadtrips in the Mako to prospect remote mountains for a cash bounty than do this shit. Similarly, and this opinion is subject to change depending upon how much content is left in the game, cash is really hard to build up. The new mission-structure means there is in fact a hard limit on how much money you can accumulate in the game, and you can't revisit mission sites after you've completed them for more cash. Some of the upgrades are dependent upon you going out and buying shit from stores. Some sort of X-COM like feature where researching tech advances gave you more funding from Cerberus would be nice. Some of the side-missions fucking suck, like this one I just did where you have to kill three heavy mechs before they blow up all these crates, and your commission goes down every time they destroy a crate. That was seriously what their great idea was to replace moon-buggy rides, a fucking time attack?!
A lot of people seem to be complaining about the planet-scanning stuff. I played for a few hours last night, scanned a few planets, it didn't seem bad to me. Maybe it's different on the XBOX, but on PC I just drag my mouse over the terrain a bit, find a few hot spots, launch a few probes and move the fuck on. Way better than ME1's 'find the crashed probe/shoot the big worm' nonsense. Do people feel like they need to completely scour every planet or something? If so, that's their problem. I had plenty of minerals to research most of my available upgrades. Haven't been feeling a lack of credits either, and I bought pretty much everything available on Omega. I've been enjoying decorating my Captains Quarters with the little ships, and I also bought an an alien porno mag called Fornax, which I hope will come in handy when I try to convince Tali to scissor with me (I'm playing the female Shep). Hopefully I'll also be able to get some fish for my fish tanx soon :3
