a mistake, chapter 1: May 2009
i made a mistake a couple days ago that blew my mind with its ornate incorrectness. i typed all this up once for you guys and then it was like a fucking wall of text and i knew that even if it was remotely relevant or interesting to anyone, you would still flip me shit about the length. i will tell it in stages because it's one of those perfect storm mistakes that only i could make and it nearly cost me my entire community.

you remember when i had swine flu last year? couldn't do anything, hated everything, desperately lonely, etc. etc. miserable hours, miserable enough so that i started to think hey what's up in the ljrp world. because i really couldn't do anything besides sweat and type that being the case, i took a cursory survey of the landscape, decided it would be a fine month's entertainment to participate in and then ditch once it got dull, and Put In. the normal, standard, typical case for an LJRP game is: there are one or more moderators who set up a situation and plot and rules of conduct - the game - and people apply to play at the game. the mods review the application and accept or reject it. typically one applies to play a character from known show or manga or whatever. original characters are the exception, and usually frowned-upon. applications can be fucking long! a lot of people take them as seriously as job applications. i digress. this is important because when i applied to my first real ljrp game, i wanted to play a dude called Chang, who is a depressed and repressed oriental drug lord from an ero manga. but the game i was applying to was very much PG-13; the mods told me it would be more appropriate to pick someone else. so i settled on a dude who might as well be Jareth, let's just call him Jareth. btw it never occurred to me for a hot minute to app a female character. i digress. anyway the Jareth app is accepted and off i go. the game was allegedly all crack (the rp term for anything wacky) and comedy, but of course it's full of naruto characters being highly srs bsns. Jareth's evil schemes meet with a giant wall of wannabe heroes. the whole thing is a travesty. i am bored within a week and a little alarmed about the state of mind of everyone involved when i note that one of the mods also participates in a place, Sexbutt, which is a much looser - and pornier - environment. no applications, just show up and play. well, i thought we have done this sort of thing before maybe Jareth would meet with some better victims in Sexbutt. actually Jareth got mobbed in Sexbutt. and, even though i broke a LOT of the local etiquette and whatnot, Jareth was so popular that i got away with it. i was still in the fail-hard rp gaem that i had originally applied to and was being quite swell-headed about my newfound success i will add. a great weakness, vanity. i digress. two weeks in, i see an open post - looks rather refined and upscale really - someone is posting as Chang. looks like manners porn, my favorite (i have this hard-on for etiquette correctly applied). looks like fun. let's reply to it with Jareth shall we.
