a mistake, chapter 2: June 2009
so, Jareth and Chang. needless to say some gay shit was gonna happen. i made some cute comments in the subject lines and whatnot, just being friendly and excited about seeing this character i liked so much; i received cold pricklies in response, and the character interaction was a little strange, too. Chang was mostly played in-character, good enough for jazz anyway, but would totally drop the high-flown tone at times and just say or think (thoughts are narrated a lot of the time) something unsuitably vulgar. Delicate manners, peasant boner. given what was taking place in the thread, i read the whole thing as "Chang wants to top from the bottom" - which is fine, we can totally accomodate that, honey! so when the matter comes to the romance part Jareth rather cleverly displays a willingness to lead while following Chang's direction. very tricky posture this, a nice bit of work on my part, and if i saw anyone doing it today i would recruit they ass immediately. Chang's response was to be openly bored and scornful in the thread. Very embarrassing. i don't even know how to deal with this, but i look down through some of the other people who replied to Chang - one of whom is a "castmate", someone from the same manga, a sophisticated yakuza boss named Mifune... well of course Mifune is just fuckin brutalizing Chang, and the Chang player clearly loves it. i had missed the brief. i had treated this person like someone who wanted elevated smut, and instead she - Chang's player that is - just wanted to be ridden hard and put away wet. fuuuuuuck. i flamed out of the thread, and then proceeded to take things WAY TOO PERSONALLY and flame out of the gaem i had applied into as well. this was mostly because i had no concept of etiquette or anything else, i just was so fucking clueless and rude to everyone - i still wince about it. it was a train wreck. i disappeared from ljrp completely for about three months. i didn't know it at the time, but Chang's player also played a bunch of other characters that Jareth had basically ignored in the past. i also remembered Mifune, who gave so much and asked for so little in terms of energy in his thread with Chang. Mifune was so cool. *A*
