a mistake, chapter 8: last week
[quote name="Noi Dau Don"]totally aside from this business with Sofia, it should probably be understood that i courted and won over many many players from all over lj. especially all the best players from Sexbutt and The Love Hotel; i went right after them, usually in a direct and upbeat way. remember SEXIST REMARKS INCOMING, ONLY HIGHLIGHT IF YOU WON'T BE OFFENDED ljrp is generally full of and run by women in their early-to-mid 20's. they treat handing out praise like it would painfully drain their blood. a lot A LOT of games are run by flinty, stingy, deeply insecure bitches who are doing it for god only knows what reason but pleasure appears to play no part in it. the point being that when ndd cruised the scene i kissed ass freely and with abandon, and since i was myself one of the few players that other people would openly praise, my compliments had weight. HEH. but i gave them out by the cartload and still do. also i say thank you a lot to people. little things! good manners! makes all the difference for some reason. you'd think women would know that but eh. there were one or two players who evaded my filthy clutches. one of whom (X) i knew to play a variety of complete deviants - very seme deviants, a resource in ghastly short supply (recall that this quality was so rare that it propelled Jareth to fame despite all my many mistakes.) after long deliberation, i managed to persuade this player to come to chat, where everyone involved bathed her in adoration. i excused myself, all smiles; time for a late night bike ride and some coffee while team NDD Sexbutt does their good work. after all it would just be creepy if i lead this assault. when i came back, chat was still grins and asspats, excellent. X was having a very good time. and... as well... there was a new post up in the main comm. some blond chinese vendor of mysteries. looks rather refined and upscale, really. clearly my new acquisition was already hard at work. of course it would only be polite to make sure her post gets a reply right away. WHEEEEE screamed chat, POST WITH JARETH. X stayed rather shyly silent i thought. HA HA FUCK JARETH, CHANG IS OVERDUE TO TOP A BLOND, i squealed back. (Szeged is blond.) YAAAAAAAAY CHANG!!!! X smirked that it was only right that i play with who i like, seeing as how i had collected all the best players. so i posted. Chang in full-on NDD's Chang mode, full of quiet malice and mastery. the Chang that had become the new standard for Changs across LJ. a good tag, the first reply, and only a half-hour after the chinese blond had posted. There was no reply after a few hours. this is totally normal and fine, but i watched while other replies started filtering in on the same post. one of them was one of Sofia's characters. heh hi sofia! imagine us sharing the same post like this! ha ha that hasn't happened for almost a year. come to think of it, wasn't the last time in that Chang thread i flamed out in?! funny thing - Sofia, reclusive and retiring no-OOC contact Sofia, had put a cute note in the subject line of her post. "well I guess I will anyway!" what an odd note. how odd that Sofia should say such a thing. and to this new poster? but Sofia doesn't know X. a sensation something like "drinking chilled drain cleaner" began to seep through my idiot senses. a crushing realization gathered. ...oh no. oh how could i. i had just posted to Aqua with Chang. at the first possible opportunity, i broke my promise to Sofia and delivered a vicious insult to the person most likely in all the universe to shit up my sterling new reputation. i had done it excitedly, willfully - hurtling into the abyss. pp says: how could you have possibly known, ndd? how is this in any way your fault, sheesh. but pp is normal and human, so she doesn't understand that what i saw was my dominion cracking - seriously, this was the moment at which Sarah turned to me and moaned "you have no power over me!" my empire of etiquette, my laws of hospitality, my terrifyingly adept grasp of the flow of power within the community - all shattered. and what would aqua do?
