Re: What is the secret?
You don't automatically collect all the stuff you get for beating boxes. You have to mouse over all of it. Always go after all the monsters you can. Missions are something to do when you can't beat any available monster. I'm not too sure about recovery, but I never put it above 20 and even that might be a waste. Good planning makes it mostly unnecessary. Avoid being reduced to zero health at all costs. Not only do you have to wait for it to restore, your attack and defense are reduced to zero and slowly recover. I wondered why I was doing so poorly in some battles and didn't realize that my attack and defense weren't at max. Keep your attack and defense the same (?). Only spend gold on weapons and armor (and the full life recovery at the very end). Everything else is a massive waste. Weapons and armor become worse values the more expensive they get so always buy up (9 times) the cheapest ones. You shouldn't need to go beyond the $500 ones. Before taking on a tough monster, time it so you're only about 100 experience from the next level. Beat down the monster as much as you can without dying, then do a mission to hit the next level and get your life back and finish the monster. Save the life recovery buy for the very bottom box, it gets more expensive with each buy. If you have the proper stats (around 250 atk/def) you should be able to beat it with only one life restore. After that, just start wailing on the final boss. You should have plenty of gold for all the life refills you need.
