Re: It remains nonsense.

Just like your juxtaposition of texting and self esteem makes no sense, this also is, yes, gibberish.

Back to Diane, she discovers she probably has herpes. This is not the end of the world. It makes her the third girl I've known with this (that has told me) and the second I've still wanted to bang. But it puts a damper on things, and makes me want Artemisia even more. I do my best to raise her morale, and we read webMD together a bit.
What's raises your morale more? A doctor's appointment that mitigates the problems of your transplant, or a night out with someone fun who takes your mind completely off your liver?
What kind of mind comes up with this? What can even be said about it? Both women have daughters at least part of the time, and they can't rush out of the house every night. And the hint that dates are better than medicine is also, another word I stand by, bizarre. The musing about romance novels and movies is interesting. But the incessant harping on "be yourself" and claiming I pretend to want what I don't want . . . I'm sorry, this is not ringing true for me.
Two answers: 1)
Dated a girl, let's call her Diane. She's a cute mouse of a girl, and it was the best first date ever. (No sex, best first date that I've had I mean.) After two dates and talking every day for a month, I was ready to call her my girlfriend. But nobody who says they are "looking for a relationship" online means that. Other than me, I mean. They mean "just dating" but they can't SAY that because if they SAY "just dating" that means "down to fuck" or some shit. *nods wisely* *shrugs carelessly* Whatever. Anyway, she gets quite distant for no apparent reason. So, I'm severely bummed out.
Already you're playing games. Does she really want a relationship? Well perhaps not because it is forbidden on dating sites to acknowledge sexuality, and if you say something that could be taken as a hint of sexuality the other people will compare your choice of words to your photo and triangulate the truth and then... Jesus, does all this six-moves-ahead deception make you feel like a man? Why couldn't you just say something like, "Hey, I totally understand that people sometimes feel compelled to say they're looking for a relationship on a dating site even if they want something different, but I think it's important that you know I really meant it and I want to know what you're really looking for." Instead you played games with the truth and look where they got you. You thought you were ready to officially call her a girlfriend but she responds with a game of her own, "I'm going on a date with this different guy now..." Feels like shit being on the receiving end of a dating game instead of knowing the truth of what she really thinks, doesn't it? If you feel compelled to be deceptive or otherwise dishonest about what you want and hide your interests behind games instead, that's indicative of a serious lack of self-respect. 2) Rate these three scenerios, not in terms of practical utility, but by how romantic they are: A) Rico Suave is on a date with Esmeralda, who admits to receiving a Herpes diagnosis from her doctor earlier that day. Rico whips out his smartphone and begins downloading pertinent information about medication, chance of infection, and so on. Rico's logical arguments convince Esmeralda that Herpes is a very livable condition and will have a negligible effect on her lifestyle. Esmeralda thanks him profusely and pulls her insurance card out of her purse. Rico Suave gently pushes her hand away and says, "No, my dearest Esmeralda. For you, consultations are free." B) Rico Suave is on a date with Esmeralda, who admits to receiving a Herpes diagnosis from her doctor earlier that day. Rico asks her how this makes her feel and Esmeralda admits that she's afraid this incurable disease will prevent anyone from finding her attractive ever again. Rico Suave spends the remainder of the evening reassuring her that she is beautiful and intelligent and any man who wouldn't fall to their knees and worship her is either an idiot or gay. Esmeralda puts her hand on Rico's and thanks him for being so understanding. Rico pats her hand and assures her if she ever needs to talk, he'll be there for her. C) Rico Suave is on a date with Esmeralda, who admits to receiving a Herpes diagnosis from her doctor earlier that day. Rico asks her how this makes her feel and Esmeralda admits that she's afraid this incurable disease will prevent anyone from finding her attractive ever again. Rico immediately stands up, offers his hand, and says, "Dance with me, Esmeralda, right now." For the rest of the evening Rico dances with her, takes her to different clubs, and laughs with her. The "H" word never passes his lips for the remainder of the evening, instead he communicates with his eyes and his body that her disease is no barrier to his desire.
