Wasn't crazy about this
Half the movie is fixing a ship, System Shock 2 style. Seeing Black Widow and Hawkeye in a live action movie side by side with real superheroes hits even harder how pointless they are. Scarlett Johansson was the worst possible actress for the part. When you get together a team of the most powerful superheroes, you should give them an equally imposing villain. Here we get fat fangirl favorite Loki, evil Hawkeye, and generic nameless cgi jetski aliens? You might count rampaging Hulk, who in the end is dealt with by a fighter pilot and not the team. Loki's whole thing is supposed to using trickery to set the team against each other, but it went nowhere. Easier to literally just say a wizard did it with magical Hawkeye possession. The only compelling fight was between Iron Man and Thor: two imposing powers and actual characters. Every action scene might as well have been Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor telling the rest, "Don't worry guys, we got this." I'm surprised that, after your complaint of The Matrix Reloaded, you weren't more critical of the zero bodycount, painful 9/11 invocation of destroying lower Manhattan.
