Maybe I'm just dumb, but the thing I really liked about the movie was that they didn't rub my face in allegory. The whole thing struck me as a giant nerdgasm using snappy dilogue to set up conflicts like "What if Thor zapped Iron Man with his lightning?" or "What if the Hulk tried to pick up Thor's hammer?" I guess I'm so numbed to "I can't believe it's not 9/11" in action movies that I didn't even notice. Doesn't Manhattan get flattened every other week in the comics? I guess the point I was trying to make is that this was a movie that earned me turning my brain off. That said, the really jarring thing for me was that it WASN'T a zero bodycount battle. Despite the chirpy goofy tone ("...I'm listening.") people were being killed all over the place but either bloodlessly or off camera, which I found strangely more disturbing than exploding heads in Punisher Warzone.[/quote]
