If the game moved a little faster it'd be excellent.
[quote name="Last"]They earn a million points for making a Fables game, and another million for the art and dialogue. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, this game is so slow! It's equally good as reading a book combined with the slow tedium of an adventure game. The pace is the only thing keeping it from perfection. Well, that, and the way they front-load all the mysterious elements leaves me feeling a little directionless. You don't know the victim's name, only that she is doing something you don't know for reasons you don't know in the employment of people you don't know. You have no suspects. You have no motive. People you don't know are trying to do something you don't know to prevent something you don't know, while other people you don't know have done something you don't know for a reason you don't know in order to accomplish a goal you don't know for a purpose you don't know. Meanwhile, Beauty does something you don't know and makes you promise not to tell Beast but can't tell you why or what she's doing or what will happen if Beast finds out. All right, wonderful. 8( I'm starting to see some potential answers emerge in drips and drabs but even those bring more questions (husband's apartment, sheesh). I feel like I'd be more hooked if not EVERY fucking thing was a complete cipher in the first half hour of play. In The Usual Suspects we start out knowing that Keyser Soze killed many men on a boat before setting it ablaze, leaving two eye witnesses. The rest of the story is hearing their version of events to make sense of the crime. In Sherlock's 'A Study in Pink' we know there is a rash of suicides and we begin from the corpse of the latest victim with the word 'RACHE' scraped into the wood nearby. I'll stick with the game because I like the license and I hear it gets better. In the meantime I'm punching every motherfucker in the face whenever possible (even in front of their kids), and that relieves some of the frustration. Bigby as Judge Dredd.
