Batman Vs. Superman
First the casualty counts from Avengers 1, Captain America 2, and Avengers 2. Which you probably saw in the previews for Batman vs. Superman. This sharply contrasts with the acknowledgement in Batman Vs. Superman that all the wanton destruction in Man of Steel actually had some loss of life. I think a lot of the criticism for this story boils down to it not being enough life The Avengers and people hating anything that's different. I'm not saying it's flawless, but all the 'worst movie ever', 'why wasn't mark hamill the joker?', 'the cartoons i haven't watched in 12 years are better' are just hyperbolic whinging. Yeah there are too many dream sequences, it's long, some parts feel rushed but beyond that I really enjoyed it. I just don't see the problem, I've been on 4 to 6 hours of sleep the last few days and I didn't get anywhere near falling asleep on it. Affleck is a pretty good Batman and the conflict between him and Superman is believable, including the idea that they were manipulated into it. Eisenberg might have been a little too hammy as Lex Luthor but I appreciate the shift from fearless industrialist to neurotic tech startup guy. The "hey look we included Cyborg, the Flash, and Aquaman" montage felt more like a in-movie trailer than meaningful exposition. Overall I liked it, I can see the flaws but the action and overall plot was good enough for them to not bother me too much.
