Re: Well, let me ask you this

Additionally, "[Glare silently]" is not an acceptable conversation choice.
The conversation response time limit trend has been a blight on story heavy games.
You clearly either went to film school or are extremely passionate about narrative or SOMETHING is going on, so you're a good person to ask: How important is starting a story by getting the reader to be on the "side" of the protagonist to you? I feel it never happens in video games any more. In Tyranny, we're supposed to "play the part of the bad guy" but the beginning is some CYOA where you are pitting a couple factions we know nothing about against each other. We have zero reason to care about the character we made. Am I crazy in thinking these games would be a lot better if they made us give a shit about the people inside? I feel I gravitate towards 2D action games these days because they don't even bother, they just get straight to the shooting. But maybe I am crazy and nobody else goes into games like Tyranny with the expectations I have. ICJ
Thanks to whoever bumped this to remind me of my aborted attempt to talk narrative design with people. This is what I get for trying to have an actual conversation around here. No wonder all the site is any more is what dumb thing RPS did this week.
