The plotlines of this show remind me of the "pick two" engineering adage
Interesting plot Proper story development Production values Geralt's monster of the week Interesting plot- YES Proper story development- YES(?) Production values- NO Hunchback Hogwarts Interesting initial plot- YES Proper story development- NO Production values- YES Siri wanders around the woods with a mute Interesting initial plot- NO Proper story development- YES(?) Production values- YES Geralt's portions have an interesting initial monster mystery setup and progresses. So why do they seem like they have a SyFy budget compared to the premium channel rest of the show? Hogwarts has the brutal bordering school plot anyone can relate to. The production is fine. So much of it hinges on crap you had to prep with wiki articles for though. The sorcerers' and the witches' relations who what now? Eels? The only thing missing from Siri's plot is anything interesting. Geralt's monster of the week portions should be so much better. They should be 80% of the show! Or go the X-Files route where each episode is dedicated wholly to either MotW or continuing mythology. This is the format that most of the books and comics go and they work so much better.
