Re: The new research thing is great too, though I'm afraid it'll change

You get four choices pulled from a random (or semi-random, I'm guessing) deck. You pick the one you want. You can re-roll the four choices but it'll take longer to research them. This is so much better than "choose something from this big goddamn complicated tech tree" I can't even see straight. You can still plan up the tech-tree, but the limited nature of what you can pick from makes it a much smoother, and DARE I SAY more exciting operation. Since this and the core-world thing were the first two things I noticed, I am hopeful that the rest of the design is similarly focused on streamlining stuff that is boring and time-consuming, and focusing on fun things.
This comment worried me when I saw it months ago. No, it didn't change. You get a random selection of techs to choose from. This, and your comment about tech trees, seems *so fucking crazy* to me. Random tech choices are exciting? As one person points out, what happens when you need some food techs and they aren't handed to you? You can "re-roll". How many re-rolls do you get? When you re-roll you get that research penalty you mentioned. Is it severe or not an issue? Do I just hit re-roll over and over till my tech comes up, like a game of slots?
