Tears of the Kingdom is overrated and Breath of the Wild is the better game
Did you think Tomb of the Giants was the best part of Dark Souls and wish it could be expanded to a BotW-sized world map? Well, eat a dick, because it sucks. It empirically sucks. We have proof now. The construction / engineering feature, while a legitimate marvel and milestone, feels arbitrarily inserted into Zelda and not because it's not thematically appropriate (who cares). You can craft elaborate vehicles, but it's either faster to just teleport or build / autobuild the simplest vehicle possible because otherwise you'll spend more time crafting the stupid thing than it would take to just walk to wherever you want to be. They undermine the whole point of horses, and if horses weren't tediously tied to fetching them from stables they'd probably be overall faster than building a vehicle. You can build weapon constructs, but bosses are designed entirely around your helper NPCs, and the 4 dungeons aren't really designed with them in mind either. The temples all involve crafting, but they're just specific engineering puzzles involving specific materials instead of being completely open-ended (that said, most of them are still fun and are largely teaching tools for what you can do with the engineering feature). The whole engineering feature just seems geared toward viral videos, and it was certainly successful in that respect. Oh, if you craft something that flies, it will time out and disappear mid-flight regardless of how much energy you have to power it because god forbid you have TOO much fun. You can graft literally any object to your weapon, but out of the hundreds of items the possible effects are either ice, fire, lightning, or spring mallet. The weapon grafting otherwise simply allows you to craft a makeshift sword, spear, or club, all weapons you can find anyways. Arrows have a few additional effects (bombs, confusion, smoke clouds), and you can graft something with wheels to your shield to create a skateboard that allows you to ride on rough surfaces with less shield degradation. The story in BotW wasn't good, but oh god, the story and cutscenes in TotK is like the worst anime. They really need to stop trying or spend some money and hire an actual writer that has ideas beyond the most embarrassing 14-year old fanfiction. AND YOU STILL CAN'T PET THE DAMN DOGS.
