Re: Cover Songs 3

If you like the Nirvana version - well, it depends on what it is you like about it. If you like the simple poppy punky rockingness you should probably stick with the Ramones or something. The Vaselines version of "Molly Lips" has two singers and a guitar. It's not a punk rock song, originally. Or so I've heard from those who located it. I did buy their songwriter's major label release (under the name Eugenius), and it was semi-enjoyable guitar pop that sounds a hell of a lot like Teenage Fanclub, but with more chords.
I like how it all flows together well. You know how an impressionist painting will take your eyes on a non-stop journey, because everything is just so smooth? "Molly's Lips" sounds that smooth to me. It's just one long flow of music to my ears. (I hate it when I can visualize a concept but can't say it in words, my brain is right now screaming BUT IT'S SO SIMPLE at my fingers. Ah well, maybe you know what I mean.) The "simple poppy punky rockingness" is why all my punk friends picked on me for liking Nirvana. It wasn't "punk enough". But I didn't see why if I listened to the Weirdos that I couldn't listen to Nirvana. I never understood how someone could be a punk, and yet try to define what other people should listen to; being a fascist kind of goes against the whole punk ideal. But anyway.
How come nobody mentioned 1000 Homo DJs cover of Supernaut? Trent Reznor fronting Revolting Cocks doing a cover of a Sabbath song. Hell yeah! It's fucking amazing.
*smacking forehead* FUCKING NO SHIT. That is such a good song. I used to have that CD, but I've moved too many times and it's gone. I have to grab that again, thanks for reminding me. v
