Re: I love it. Payton didn't instantly stop being a great coach at the start of

One thing that was infuriating after a few seasons was the bad starts that the Saints had under Payton. We'd lose to some chud team with a rookie QB. We'd be like 2-2 going into the bye and then suddenly rip off 6 wins in a row. Considering how important the #1 seed is in football, it'd have been nice to win some of those, but that is just how it goes with Sean. Say that the Dolphins scored 40 instead of 70, nobody out here would be losing their minds. He is a good coach and now has two signature victories from - and I mean no offense! - a Broncos team without a lot of A-list talent and All-Pros. I love Payton so much.
Interesting, I didn't know that about his tenure with the Saints. I feel like it doesn't matter what order you get your wins in, but it does feel dumb to beat the Chiefs, say, and lose to the Commanders. Oh well. We're at the stage that everyone thinks we're just lucky idiots, so that's fun. I know we're not winning the Super Bowl but we're not the garbage team we were, ok? My favorite football guy, Brandon Perna, had a good line about Russell Wilson last night (paraphrasing): It seems like sometimes Russell thinks, "That guy is open but maybe the NEXT guy will be EVEN MORE open oh crap" and then dumps it off to a RB
