Looks like everyone is in on the nostalgia cash in
Tempest Rising Published by totally NOT a scam company 3D Realms. Holy shit that is a lot of dog shit Obviously shooting to be the spiritual C&C successor. Everything looks nice in the short clips played in tiny preview Steam windows. But once you fire up the demo, it's obvious that it's a bunch of mediocre people trying to recreate C&C's style without the spiritual talent. My favorite is them trying to trick you into thinking the Ghostrunner people developed this, and hoping that you don't notice the 2nd billing developer, these guys who I suspect did most of the work. There's a demo out. You only get to play 2 awful tutorial campaign missions. No skirmish. The briefing cutscenes are so unbelievably jank. This is pre-Source engine lip syncing. Beyond All Reason Obviously going for the Total Annihilation spiritual successor. Was it Fussbett who called Total Annihilation the RTS for autistics who only care about BIG NUMBERS(!!!)? The Linux of RTS? So open-source, they don't even bother with Steam. Mischief Maker will probably love it then. ZeroSpace The only one that looks like it has a chance at being decent. The big difference? They're focusing on making a decent game on its own and not pulling a Chris Roberts cash out by hyping big name O.G. designers or obviously aping being a clone of some past game.
