The Backrooms

I beat Poly Backrooms.
I turned down the graphics to "medium" and used my laptop's built-in screen rather than an external monitor. I don't know which one of those saved me from a crash, or whether I just got lucky, or what. But I didn't experience a crash after making those changes to the settings. There are three levels, but they're not that different from each other ... run from the monsters, find the McGuffins, put the McGuffins in the right spots, advance to the next area. In my opinion, this premise would have been good for one level, but they needed to find something different for the second and third levels. Like a long chase sequence? Or something where you could stun monsters or modify the environment? The "hiding in a locker" thing gets old; even Pac-Man let you turn the tables on the monsters every once in a while. I don't really recommend this, but it is... an arcade take... on the backrooms. Like every backrooms game ever, it is "under development," of course. I think if they want to make it good, they have to really lean into the arcade nature of it. It just needs more gameplay, even if that gameplay isn't thematic.
