Overboard!

"Final Girl" is the shittiest, most overhyped game in all of boardgaming.
I feel like I've been gaslit by the entire internet. Almost every board game youtuber says this is in their top 3 solo games of all time. But it's so dull and it takes forever to set up and tear down. I'm going with the working theory that this is a streamer's game. If you're an attractive girl looking for a game with a lot of random shit for you to provide animated color commentary over for 2+ hours, Final Girl is the game for you. Especially if you've got underlings doing the setup and teardown. But if you're just a loser on their lonesome looking for a fun, engaging solitaire game, prepare for the most frustrating disappointing overpriced experience ever. Imagine a version of Spirit Island where instead of the player having unique and interesting powers to creatively combine verses a straightforward card-mediated bot enemy, it's the opposite. Whether you're running from Jason in Camp Crystal Lake or being stalked by the Alien on the Nostromo you're using the same tiny marketplace of boring moves and powers every single game, while the bot has all the fun, unique toys. Then mediate ALL your boring moves (even walking) through dice that only give you a 1 in 3 chance of success. Unlike "Under Falling Skies" or "Nautillion" or even "One Deck Dungeon," the dice here only serve to thwart you. Now don't get me wrong, there are ways to mitigate bad rolls, and I did successfully kill Jason once, but nothing about the dice added any fun to the experience. And the boxes are gimmicky shit that waste tons of space and don't allow you to reorganize pieces to speed up the setup process, because the boards magnetically clasp over both sides. Which means the setup and teardown take way longer and are much more annoying than they need to be. Plus the cards are exceptionally thin and flimsy. But don't worry, they have tons of premium replacement minis you can buy for several times the price of the full game! Just a massive disappointment. Get Under Falling Skies instead. Great theme, fast setup & teardown, and dice that you can place and use creatively, even if they are low rolls.
