Why did I pay $10 for this?
I picked it up in the summer sale because I vaguely remembered it getting fawning praise and I must have hallucinated positive comments here. I should have verified, because the comments here are right. This thing sucks, and I put 3.8 hours in so I can't refund it now. This kind of thing could only sort of, kind of work if you can't see the seams until after you've exhausted the content to the point that you have nothing left to do but analyze how it's constructed, but within the first 15 seconds I accidentally ended the game without realizing what I had done. You're supposed to leave your office, but I was messing with the Use key to make sure my keybindings were correct, unexpectedly closed the door even though I wasn't trying to click on it, and then was unable to re-open it and was forced into an ending where the game informed me that I chose to hide and hope life worked itself out. Mmkay, thanks for letting me know that's what I wanted. Then after I restarted, the pacing was off, so narration came either too late or too soon and ruined any feeling of the narrator reacting organically. Then it was a lot of deliberately standing around and waiting to see what happens, deliberately touching every little thing to see what happens, or just rolling my eyes and barreling through a path to see a different ending. There's a couple of mildly amusing jokes, but not much else. Don't be tricked into buying this.
