Re: Daredevil (spoilerz)
So i find myself one of the few that while not actually hating the movie, felt that ot fell far short of what it could be. And, I'm not even one of the slavering fanbois that's read every one of his books and went dressed with a billy club and sunglasses. I think what left me cold was that in trying to be too dark, the director left niggling bits of plot points and overused the whole image system thing of vulnerability. (Way to many scenic references to catholism.) I get that Daredevil is one of the most vulnerable superheroes out there in the whole canon of them but geez, this is overkill. It''s also kinda contradictory that while he's weak-willed as he could have been in costume, he's such a smooth operator when out of it? Then again, he does manage to do backflips and asorted high jumps even with a hole through his shoulder, so i guess he is as superhero as you can get. Also, what's up with all the rooftop jumping and Colin Farrell swishing his cape like some sort of batman reject? If anything, the last few fight scenes seemed like they were ripped from either spiderman or the matrix. What's with Jennifer Garner leaping over buildings and landng like she was in CTHD. I thought with the setup of the var fight and the playground one, better things were to come. What we're left with is a WWF monday night special between a fat black man and ben affleck. Yay. And I guess only Jennifer Garner can get away with saying cheesy lines like "I dressed up because i wanted to look beautiful for you," to a blind man. And Favreau, beat the damn sewer crocodile joke to death, it not being much of a joke to begin with. Maybe it's just me, but i think Mr Mark Steven Johnson tried way to hard to make it dark and then screw it all up by directing it to the music, all angsty grunge style modern rock. It comes off as really, a rather long MTV with a narrative hastily thrown in. I really wished it could have been better Here's hoping to LXG and X2
