Re: Matrix Thread: Resurrected

People wouldn't have been knocking it if it hadn't tried to be more than simple action flick. The Matrix was special in that pretty much every single aspect was perfect, apart from the human battery concept and that part where Trinity jumped through that window away from the agents. I'm not a huge movie buff; I don't tend to pick at a movie and look at its components. It was for me different with The Matrix. I was actually seeing how shots were set up and flowed into one another, and loving it. You know when Neo first pulls up to the building where morpheus is in, and they have that top down view showing the rain cascading off the building while the car pulls up, then they switch to the interior top down view of them walking up the spiraling staircase while the camera is rotating? That made my nipples stand at attention. I don't recall any of those cool touches in Reloaded. Only good Kung Fu and fucking awful scenes in Zion. -/ES/-
Agreed. All the money when to their heads. That and the pop philosophy that sprouted out of the first matrix. They started taking themselves too seriously about the kung fu and the philosophy and forgot that instead of trying to craft a superior movie, they went ahead and made something purposely cryptic and deep so people would just talk about it. And when you do ultimately deconstruct the movie, it ends up like xenosaga, lots of references that ultimately mean nothing. Publicity is still publicity, no matter how bad.
