May. 24th, 2005 - Called The Bluff and Won!
[ mood | amused ] [ music | Metric - Dead Disco ] On the day of my party, I was summoned to the Residence Office and told that the person in charge called the head R.A. (residence assistant) and asked her to tell me that there will be no party. I asked if I could speak to the person in charge (who was away for the weekend); she was not availble. I was then told that if a party took place, I will be evicted. I pretty much told them that I have people coming over and it will not be a party; but rather, a reception. I showed that I didn't fear the threat of eviction and that I was not getting in trouble because the subordinates of the Head R.A. are rookies and didn't try to stop the party untill the day before and the day of (despite being told a week in advance). I told the residence office, that I didn't care--- evict me and I'll be in with my lawyer on the next business day. While doing this, I did maintain decorum; however, my look might have been like Joe Pesci from "Casino" and "Goodfellas". Also, subtle things like interrupting the talker, dismissing and simply walking out of the office worked too. Off the record, I made it clear around the building that I'm not the most rational man. A man who is volatile and who, out of principle will lash out by any means necessary. Perhaps it got around to the RAs too. They didn't stop the party; although I heard that they had visited numerous times to see if there was damage or drinking in the hall. I won the bluff and saved face.
