Peter Molyneux's The Movies

Fargo is pretty good.
Frances Mcdormand is just enjoyable to watch. So is William H Macy, and so is Steve Buscemi. I guess I put Fargo in the same category as Reservoir Dogs - crime movies where most of the enjoyment comes from listening to people talk. I think the arc of the story is kind of nice, too, with the incompetent crooks ending up waaaaay over their heads and either killed or caught, with Steve Buscemi burying the money in a featureless field that has no landmarks for miles in either direction. Dorky symbolism, but also kind of funny. Out of curiosity, did you hate A Simple Plan, too? FoK P.S. I talk to a lot of insurance agents from that area, and most people don't have that "Minnesota Nice" accent but occassionally you'll find somebody that really does speak that way. The accents of the people that still have them are probably self-consciously cultivated in the way that a British guy that moved to the US 20 years ago still sounds British. P.P.S. a lot of the people with accents in Fargo are using their own accents (e.g. the hookers in the bar).
