What are they, making the rink half its old size and the net twice as large?

Lots of goals != 20 points per goal, but don't sweat not understanding things hockey related. It's apparently well beyond most Southern-staters.
Yeah, but in order for those crazy Southern states to get on board this silly hockey fad thing, the scores have to be equivalent to the popular pro mainstays, basketball and/or football. Now, nobody's suggesting basketball numbers. Anyway, watching basketball is like watching auto racing, except with slam dunks instead of crashes to break the tedium until the (still rather unimportant) last couple minutes. At least they don't take 500 time-outs and clock stops in racing. I mean, if a goal is still 1 point, how much are they going to score regardless? 6? 10? I guess that would approach pro baseball in these "Steroids? Whatever, it's foam finger night!" postmodern times. I guess anything is better than 0-0, yes? And, you don't have to be southern to wonder over W/L records for pro hockey that go 35-33-0-2 or whatever.
