Then loser of the shoot-out then has to desperately play for the win at the end of the game to get any points if it's a tie in regulation. I think that would be thrilling for the first month of the season before the league starts to look like the new college graduate who gets his first studio apartment and realizes he can eat pie filling every night with nobody around to shame him.
