Re: Time to fire up the Wayback Machine, Sherman.

The TV had AV hookups in the back so I called home so Jsoh could bring a VCR over. When he and moom showed up with the VCR, it turned out that the shitty TV wouldn't even work with a VCR.
Some A/V hookups those were, huh? No, I figure you're too fucking stupid to figure out how to hook up a VCR. I'm afraid I'm going to go with that theory over your far-reaching fairy tale version where, as usual, nothing is your fault and a TV set in a major hotel chain in a major metropolitan city is so old it can't support a VCR hookup.
I can't recall a single hotel I've ever stayed at that came with VCR's in the rooms. Maybe some cheap ass motels might. Most places have TV's that don't support such hookups (for videogames too) intentionally so that you'll order their pay per view flicks (or their N64 games that a lot of places have). This has been pretty standard for over a decade.
Thanks for confirming that. I was wondering the same thing. The first one I've ever seen in my life was about three months ago in the Keys (Islamorada). I didn't raise an eyebrow because the keys are full of odd things (as are the sun-stunned locals). 50% of hotels have VCR's? I'm pissed off. I have another work trip next week from Tues-Thurs and we were booked at Embassy Suites. Nothing beats Embassy Suites' fresh made-to-order omelette bar & chef each morning. Now some new jackass that just got hired caused my boss' assistant to re-book everyones with a 'we all must stay at the same hotel mandate.' Of course that means we've been fucked out of ES and we're staying at the Marriott Courtyard. Marriott Courtyards are shitholes, this one particularly. I'm really beginning to hate this new guy and he only started on Monday.
