Medal of Honor: Rising Sun
There are many funny World War 2 era jokes I could try to come up with, but it is a struggle (or kampf) to bother so much. Maybe if this game was infuriating instead of just boring, then yeah, I would try. I could work in something about eating livers, impaling babies on spears, stacking corpses to drive tanks over, making soap out of humans. But instead I'm just going to say this straight out: the level designer sucks. He is not good, should be fired, should never work again. Enjoy walking a mile down a dead end just to find one "save point" radio, then wander around thinking that surely you're missing something, because it's a gigantic dead end that would require too much backtracking for nothing else to be here. But sure enough, you have to backtrack through a huge EMPTY area (of dense foggy jungle too, the lamest first person shooter area in gaming history in this pre-Turok gaming world). These are some of the most boring levels ever. They should rename this game to "Medal of Honor: Hope You Like Wandering in Circles Looking for an Exit you Think you May Have Missed but Didn't." Or "Medal of Honor: Target Dummy AI Edition." Or "Massive Fucking Clipping Problem." Seeing enemies stuck in the inside of a corner of a building, while you stand outside and watch them run in place, is not a rarity at all, it's a guarantee. Another huge AI problem: sometimes the Japanese will actually try to attack you with bayonets or swords, in the 1940s where warfare is or should be completely firearms based. Oh wait, they did that in real life. Oh yeah, the model animator for these new guns should also be fired. Or forced to drink a ton of water and then have someone jump on his stomach so his internal organs burst and he bleeds internally to death, in front of his friends who are all dying of dehydration and various jungle diseases. There, there is a funny World War 2 joke reference. Anyway the game is apparently still okay, but it seems like it's a version of Frontline that knows the words but not the music. "Hey, dramatic scripted sequences and big explosions were in the first game, and that was good!" So you drive a patrol boat through the flaming wreckage of the Arizona(!?!?!?!?!??!!!!!??!?!!??!). The whole game screams B-squad.
