it gets old very very quickly
That first firefight you got into? It'll be the exact same firefight you get into next level, and the next one, until the credits. There are 2 neat enemy types, and maybe half a dozen of them throughout the entire game. The buildup that something will happen? Never does. Promises of scares? Unless you find radio static and slow motion figures dissolving into ash (I lost count at 15) scary, then that never happens either. That guy from your team that disappears in the first level? Never heard from or mentioned again. Story? "Find and kill Fattel. We totally promise he'll be in this next area, not like the last 20!" *run down an alley, jump through a window, another level loading screen saying the same thing* The illusion of destructable environments is shattered rather harshly when you discover that it's the same damage decal painted onto walls no matter if you shoot them with a pistol or railgun. And like you mentioned, it runs like ass. Imagine trying to play it 2 years ago. I don't see how anyone could have much fun with it, but to each there own I guess. The universal "HALO KILLER!" reviews had me baffled though.
