Unless you're really excited about the British government and what they are doing in the movie, it is no more a "refugee camp" than Guantanamo, and a good deal worse. [/quote] The "refugee camp" (sneer quotes added at your request) was easy to enter and navigate compared to a prison, is all I'm saying. A huge sprawling chaotic slum and no guards. It was more of a desperation Plan C at that point. Wasn't it? Regardless, I can forgive dumb people having a stupid plan in a movie. They were bad guys who became bad guys based on their bad ideas to begin with. People have bad ideas all the time in real life. Which is why I don't understand why someone would bring it up as a superior movie in a thread about either of the other two, and yet it keeps coming up. I can see the technical similarities and vague murmurs about dystopia, but that's about it. [/quote] I think I don't consider The Lives of Others to be high art either, which is the real problem here. But Children of Men and The Lives of Others both CRUSH Pan. What do you think of that? Children of Men was only brought up at the beginning because "Quentin Beck" (<-- also worse than Guantanamo) was sticking it to me.[/quote]
