At one point in the movie, McCandless is sitting on the side of the road babbling like a lunatic (he's talking to an apple he's eating). I'm pretty sure this was just something super genius actor Emile Hirsch came up with on the spot and that Sean Penn also came up with behind the camera ("I was gonna say you should do that and you just did it anyway man you're a genius you're like a young me!"). At one point Hirsch lunges right at the camera, smiling. Breaking the fourth wall! Only, I don't think that's what's really happening. I think it was the closest they got to actually capturing McCandless, so full of his own bullshit he assumed the whole world was a movie he was starring in. QB, please don't tell me you walked around India reading Men's Journal. :([/quote]
