Also how did he learn about Sammy the insulin murderer? (spoiler)
Guy Pierce first explains that he met Sammy during his career as a insurance agent, but then at the end Joe Pantoliano reveals that Sammy never existed and that it was in fact Guy Pierce that insulined his wife to death. Therefore, the Sammy story was a made up memory that could only have been created after Guy Pierce could no longer create memories. The website skirts this by explaining that Guy Pierce CAN technically form new memories but only after supreme memorization effort over the course of many many many months. They say that he forced himself to read the text of his "Sammy" story every day for a couple of years until he could hang onto the memory and avoid knowing the truth. But anyway, his wife was pretty stupid to let him kill her that way. Just leave town, lady!
