People stood around, stunned, in exactly that trance. Then a lady near him said "Well, I'm leaving", and started gathering her stuff together. That snapped him out and he managed to escape. (That lady, unfortunately, waited for the elevator instead of taking the stairs, and then graciously allowed someone to take her spot on what ended up being the final elevator out.)[/quote]
