The ending came kind of suddenly, but it wasn't as shitty as everyone made it out to be. I don't really understand why you had to die since the radiation in the chamber was totally survivable even without Rad-X. That didn't make sense. I also wish the game had told you what happened to each town or significant NPC you encountered. All-in-all, it was an excellent game, but I have to rank it just below the first two. Although exploring the wasteland is really cool, most of the game's important moments take place in buildings -- and it seems like every building is a variation of three types: ruined tunnels, bombed out industrial, or house. Nothing is different about them except their arrangement and the junk they contain. I also didn't like combing over every surface multiple times only to find a RadAway and three tin cans. Eventually I just gave up searching and bumrushed my way through the game. You could say I was playing the wrong game, though, since searching is such a huge part of it (and was for Oblivion I guess). The combat and RPG elements were just as good as the previous two (maybe even better) but the quests and storyline were really bland and almost illogical at times. Like the things I said to "convince" President Eden to blow himself up weren't really that convincing. And there seemed to be a lot of shocked or angry responses to your Dad's actions that weren't there, and he never fully explained himself. Maybe that's all in his logs, though. Another thing I thought of... if water's so scarce in the wasteland, why are there still toilets and not outhouses? Wouldn't the whole sewer system be non-functional? Aren't the sewers all destroyed and shit whenever you go in them? Little things like that. Maybe this is an NMA-style complaint, but... oh well.
Verdict: positive! |
