I had only read the first four issues and I was GOING to say that I really enjoyed how they avoided spy/cop cliches by making the female lead a little ugly or at best plain-looking. But then in the next issue they switched artists and the next guy drew her as a ridiculous over-the-top slutty version of Jessica Rabbit, which is normally fine but I was already congratulating them on avoiding that cliche. This second artist continued to blow by drawing comical novelty-sized Nazi-propaganda gigantic Jew schnozzes on everyone whether they were British, Japanese, or Arab, and anybody that didn't have that ridiculous Mole Man schnozz looked like the villain from Lazytown. But, now they've shitcanned that fuckass and are back to drawing Tara like Edie Falco and the rest of the cast like human beings. Excellent!
I also really enjoy that they write her as being devoted to her work. None of that loose cannon bullshit where M is scolding James Bond while he breaks all the rules and acts like a dickhole. Tara doesn't always succeed but she TRIES to do well at her job and that's refreshing. |
