I had it confused with Alpha Centauri where the tech victory IS ascension by Fortinbras 05/31/2009, 9:30pm PDT
But what I was getting at was that I know how the game ends after all the borders are drawn and I'm way ahead of the research curve and the 2nd strongest guy's blitz has failed to take a single world. The question is whether I want to spend 100 turns crawling across the map like an intergalactic steamroller, and that's what's missing from Sins of a Solar Empire/Sword of the Stars.

But yeah, I'd probably turn that off too.
