Here's a great idea for a Sims expansion: by Quétinbec 06/21/2009, 1:59am PDT
The Sims speak gibberish because EA doesn't think players want to hear to the same everyday language repeated constantly. Meanwhile, in my spare time, I'm using Pimsleur MP3's to hear everyday Arabic repeated constantly. So EA, how about an expansion that turns your game into an amazing language tool instead of just reupholstering a bunch of chairs? With language tapes, you're forced to imagine the context language occurs in. With The Sims, you create the context. And learning is all about context! It would be so fucking perfect it makes me sick.

Here's another gripe: Sims have 6 stages of life, but only 4 of them are detectable visually. So anyone who's not a baby, child, or 'elder', that is, everyone from ages 15 - 65, looks the same. My Sim got in a sexual relationship with a lady who looked beautiful but after a few days together, turned into a grey elder, so she must have been 60 or something while I was just a young adult. I had no idea. There's a stage progress bar that tells you how far you are from your next age stage, but this is only visible if you're in control of a Sim (so once they've married into your household). Guess how I got around this after getting burned the first time? I went to the park and chatted up an elementary school girl. The romantic dialog options weren't available because of her age, so I was forced to play tag and made funny faces. I followed her through high school and helped her with her homework. As soon as she graduated and the romantic options became available, I fucked her and got her pregnant. I named our child Matthew.
