The sister's saying he promised the girl a wedding. She spoke with an accent so I'm guessing they're pretty traditional. I'm hoping the girl was warned against being with him by her family; he took her virginity on the promise of marriage, broke the promise in a humiliating way, so she killed him knowing she couldn't go back to her family after the rejection. Things work out better that way. If the wife knocked them both off for cheating, that's much less cool.
