  • seriously fucking ridiculously incredible character generation

  • # turning off ugly helmets, guild robes, etc.

Also, you can pay to have the item mesh/texture for a weapon or piece of armor replaced with another. It's not as innovative as the LOTRO system where you could just have up to two different "costumes" you could switch out (especially because the item you choose to replace it with is destroyed in the process!) but the fact that the armor/weapon design looks real nice even in the lower levels makes up for this.

  • pay to bind to city WTF

  • And when you die, YOU SPAWN AT YOUR BINDPOINT. The first time I did this and wound up resurrecting in the capital and HAD TO PAY 600 BUCKS to get back to where I was fucking fighting, I nearly broke my keyboard.

  • auto emotes like pointing when you say "that" and laughing if you say hahaha. obnoxious and apparently so loathed they're already on their way out

  • I don't mind this when you're using /say but it also does it even when you're talking in /group, making you look like a crazy person as you emote at random people who you've been clicking on while having a conversation in a private chat.

  • aerial gameplay is completely unique. unlike CoX, you don't just fly forever; flight time management is one of the major live-or-die skills in the game. if you catch an updraft at the wrong time you could run out of time and crash to your death, frex. I haven't even hardly fought in the air yet and I am looking forward to it.

  • Gliding is great for getting out of areas without having to fight your way through a bunch of assholes you've already fought. It's a fun skill to try and master, reminds me of "Skiing" in Tribes. I'm disappointed that so far the only flyable area I've found is a quest/region hub, but I've been told that in the 20-30 zone players from the other faction can randomly gate in to the zone to fight you, so I'm hoping the flying bits open up there as well. I know for a fact however that in the Abyss, the all-PVP all-the-time zone it's all about the flying.

    Other Positives -

    - You get XP for crafting. Gather some ore? That's 125 XP. Smelt it? That's 125 more. Use it in some armor? Have 125 more XP.
    - You can take "Work Orders" to grind up your crafting skill without having a shit-ton of materials. The only charge you pay are the money-sink ingredients (bottles for potions, molds for armor, etc.)
    - Healers wear chainmail instead of cloth and carry shields.
    - Haven't received a piece of armor yet that I was embarrassed to wear. The leather gear looks a bit unimaginative so far, but cloth/mail/plate looks great.
    - Same with weapons.
    - Reasonable leveling pace. I'm not getting bored like in WAR, but at the same time I'm not zipping through content too quickly. Quests give you just enough XP to get into the next zone at the level you're expected to be at.
    - Similarly reasonable addition of skills without drowning you. WAR really brought me down on this where I found myself at level 13-ish and using the same skills I had at level 1.

    Other Negatives -

    - The LFG channel is drowning in goldspam.
    - GM's have bankers hours. Customer Service is 9-5. What the FUCK?!
    - Manastones drop way too easily and don't sell to vendors for shit, making most of them wastes of space in your very limited packspace. The only manastones I've gotten to sell at the broker are +Physical Critical Hit Rate.
    - They don't even bother to palette swap their enemies. On the Asmodean side you will be fighting anthropomorphic fat guinea pigs and gerbils from level 5 to level 20. They aren't the only enemies you'll face, but they seem to be where most of the quests lead to.
    - Not much of a market for harvested materials.
    - Questing path is pretty linear.
    - No utility skills. If it doesn't help you kick more ass, it's not on your skill list. I think Sorcerers get the ability to conjure gates to insta-travel but that's it.
