I will never ever understand the love for these games. Metal Gear Solid minus production value, polish, and attention to detail. And you play the entire game with just the kinfe.
In other words, "Why bother?" I liked the first one when it came out. You forgot that Tenchu also leaves out the "LOVE BLOOMING ON THE BATTLEFIELD" and other gay of MGS and also has a decent accoustic guitar soundtrack. PLUS you can poison dogs, kill innocent women, decapitate guards, and you're a FUCKING NINJA.
"It was good back in 1998" is the only reason I can understand. You forgot that you can jam on the X button in MGS to achieve the same effect. Also, I don't remember there being a jump button, just a grappling hook that couldn't be launched at less than a 30 degree upward angle to prevent you from "abusing" it (having fun). So you're a fucking ninja that can't fucking jump, which is totally unacceptable.
Play Ninja Gaiden for ninjas
any of the Ninja Gaidens You fucking retard. There was a jump button. You could also hang on and shimmy across ledges, something you couldn't do until MGS2.
It also did things like let you fucking move and look around at the same time and see the fucking enemies that you're trying to sneak up on instead of just dots in the corner of the screen. And yeah, Tenchu hasn't changed all *that* much since 1998. Fucking big deal; Metal Gear has been using the same core gameplay since 1988. Yeah, that radar was a pretty clever idea for a top-down sneaking game on the NES. Too bad that by the next time they use that gameplay, it'll be old enough to vote.
Just to get this straight: you're actually saying that MGS is a better stealth game than Tenchu? MGS, a game about sneaking up on people you can't even see? And it's better because Tenchu's core gameplay hasn't changed that much since the series' inception, which was ten years after the first Metal Gear game, which is another series whose core gameplay hasn't changed? It boggles the mind.
But you're right about playing Ninja Gaiden if you want ninjas. Provided you're some kind of Naruto fanboy or something who thinks ninjas are ZOMG TEH MOST BADAS IN TEH UNVERZE!!!!1ONE! Otherwise, you're better off sticking to Tenchu, which (shockingly, I know) portrays ninjas who aren't invincible action heroes, but who are instead... assassins? Assassins who use stealth, no less? I know, it's a bizarre idea, and probably one born of habitual mushroom use, but it works surprisingly well. |
