| great reviews except you forgot a few salient points:
- ruby and max appear to have been left in their home to fend for themselves while their mother spasms outside a methadone clinic. there are adults in their world but inexplicably none in their house. ruby is a constantly on the verge of nervous collapse as she attempts to replace both parental figures in her family's lfe. - ni hao, kai lan does not just repeat plots -- they also play the same role all the time: everyone bends over backwards to accomodate the tiger's shitfit. this should be a teaching moment for children that the tiger is a sorry excuse for a friend and that excising assholes from one's social circle makes everyone's life better. but no, instead they spend the entire half-hour trying hard to empathize with whatever selfish freakout tiger had and to make it better. YAY. - diego plays on childrens' love of animals and completely perverts it. in no way can a small child separate the actual biological truths presented from the goofy storylines, so you have a whole episode about fucking iguanas that touches on real facts like "iguanas are cold-blooded" and "iguanas eat vegetables" immediately next to "iguanas must sing a magical winter song before they hibernate." FUCK. big big world is better in every way and has henson muppets. |
