For a while MTV reality shows veered away from The Real World style and embraced a new style with Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach style gives you better camera work and editing, but less reality. And then it stretches on for season after season and has spin-off shows and the final product is this:
...so that's an abject failure by all accounts. But I downloaded Jersey Shore and see that they've gone back to the roots with the latest show. Jersey Shore is The Real World: Italian Edition. So just imagine that, and you're probably being too conservative. All of the guido parodies are powerless against these people because they outpace all the stereotypes with zeal. They start by calling themselves guidos constantly, and keep trying to out-guido each other, for example.
Comparing it to Real Cancun, it's not R-rated so that's a drag, and unlike the wimpy Real Worlders, these beefy dudes love to drink, so Jhoh would have trouble out-drinking them. On the plus side, Jhoh would definitely still be the mysterious outsider by leaving his shirt on. Another plus is that no one brought an acoustic guitar to the Jersey shore house.
