I confess I don't understand how this works. by laudablepuss 12/08/2009, 3:43pm PST We have "gas giants" and now we have "dwarf planets". These seem like subcategories of "planets" to me. But for some reason, when the question "how many planets are there in the solar system" gets an answer now, only gas giants and rocky non-dwarf planets get counted. What's the rationale for that? Is there one?
