You can edit an .ini file to skip the movies. I can't give more detail since I haven't tried it yet. Also, you have to ENABLE depth of field in the video options in order for the thing to not look like a cartoon. I'm pretty sure it's not just me since my brother has a brand new video card and it required him to do it too. :(
