I'm posting this so that I can feel like the endless deleting and rewriting I've done on most of these won't have had gone to complete waste. It has, of course, but pseudo-content is better than no content.
I was going to "write" an article about Lori Gottlieb, who is a 43 year old white single ("by choice!") mother and her book that encourages women to settle. By "write," of course, I mean have AIM conversations about it and let other people be funny while I take all the credit. (Un?)fortunately, I don't think it's going to pan out; all I really want is for Caltrops to argue with itself over the concept of settling for my personal amusement, and considering the male/female ratio here, that's not a wise investment of effort.
Indefensible television. I actually managed to get partway into this, writing about how a lot of my favorite shows in the past were cheesy daily shows that were equally concerned with volume as well as quality. I used the examples of the first five years of Late Night with Conan O'Brien and Talk Soup pre-Hal Sparks before turning to Attack of the Show on G4. But from there, I couldn't really get past the fact that I would also like to fuck Olivia Munn at full force in her vagina, mouth, and ass. Then I canceled cable at the beginning of the year for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that I was getting mauled to the tune of $200+ per month, and surprise! I don't miss this shitty show at all. It is an excellent example of just how far a pretty face will get you, though; while Olivia is the selling point, Kevin Pereira is actually the more talented, effective, and funnier of the two. If Kevin Pereira took over Late Night from Jimmy Fallon, I'd totally watch that show. No one else would, but I'd watch.
Top ten favorite albums, 2000-2009. Those who can, write. Those who cannot, make lists. I'll probably actually finish this, because it's relatively easy and because I'm genuinely interested in what music Caltrops enjoyed in the past decade. Plus music threads are great for disintegrating into calling each other fags for thirty consecutive posts.
28 movies in 28 days. Last month, I watched a different movie every day and wrote about it the next day. I'm thinking about cleaning some of these up and posting them here, mainly because I saw some really good movies that went ignored here for some reason. Synecdoche, New York? Caltrops loves Charlie Kaufman! What happened? Justice: A Cross the Universe? Caltrops loves Justice AND documentaries! The odds on this one are slowly but steadily rising as I'm driven more and more insane waiting for law school decisions with each passing day. |
