Vehicles are, providing the driver knows what he is doing, horribly overpowered. When this complaint is raised most people dismiss it as “you think one guy can take out a tank? lol!” That's not the issue AT ALL. You think one tank with a half decent driver and a single engineer can hold off the advance of the entire enemy team? Lol! Sad thing is that in this game, it can.

But it's worse than that. Land vehicles are one thing, aircraft are a whole different kettle of fish. The Apache is, undeniably, OP. There is virtually nothing on any of the maps with the Apache that can take it down, so the job falls on medics and tank gunners to hose it with machine gun fire. Again though, with a decent pilot and a single engineer, the Apache will utterly destroy the entire enemy force. The secondary gunner position is absurdly overpowered, capable of taking out 4-5 grouped enemies with just one burst. Conversely, the pilots' anti-tank rockets seem to be made of tissue paper because a full salvo of them isn't enough to take out an IFV.

Then there's the spawns. If you think CoD games have horrible spawns, you'll positively LOVE the spawns in this game. And by that I mean you will love putting your foot through the screen after dying within 2 seconds of spawning for the 5th time that round. This isn't just an issue with spawning on squad members either; it happens all too frequently when you spawn back at the base especially if you're a defender. And it's not that it spawns you near enemies, often it spawns you directly in their line of fire while they're busy shooting at someone else meaning you literally have no chance to fight back. Fun, fun, fun!

I understand that this sort of thing happens in a lot of games and you're bound to get spawn killed every now and then. But it happens far, far too often in BC2 and it is immensely frustrating (to the point that I have uninstalled the game because it's just not fun) to be 0-5 down within minutes of the round beginning because of the awful, awful spawns.

However, even this isn't the worst part about BC2s multiplayer. I'm sure the spawn issue is just an accident of design, this next complaint however, is the design. What's more frustrating than constantly getting killed within seconds of spawning, is firing 20-30 LMG shots into a cluster of 3 people just 15-20 feet away and not getting a single kill. It takes way, way too many shots to kill things in this game. You wanna know what's even worse though? Hosing those 3 people, not getting a kill, and then getting killed in seconds by one of them. And this happens far too often in BC2. I've literally run around a corner, emptied into a group of enemies 3 feet away, not got a kill and then got shot myself.

It means that this game is less about skill and more about luck and luck based games almost universally SUCK. It doesn't matter if you started shooting at that guy before he even spots you, he will snap around, fire off 3 rounds and kill you. And this sort of thing happens way too often to chalk it up to a lack of skill (which I don't suffer from, I positively dominate most FPS games. I have been playing them since the mid90s and Wolf3D after all). Furthermore, I will go 15/4 as medic and finish in the top 3 one round, then go 4/23 and finish near the bottom in the very next round. On every other shooter I've played over the last 5-6 years, if I do well I will consistently do well. Doing well at this game is completely random and based entirely on luck. It's like the Mario Kart of the FPS world….except Mario Kart is fun and this isn't.

To combat this (and to compete with CoD) DICE decided to add in a Hardcore mode. That means a limited HUD, no spotting enemies and 2x weapon damage. What hardcore mode should actually be called is Easy Sniper Mode. Because it's actually far easier than normal mode and is comprised of 75% snipers, 25% other classes. With a bit of tweaking, Hardcore mode could be brilliant but I have little faith that DICE will address any of the balance issues of this game.
